In this post we are going to see each of the electrical appliances that we can find in our home and we will give some very practical advice to achieve savings in electricity consumption of our electrical installation and therefore save on our electricity bill every month.
Let’s see below a few examples.
AIR CONDITIONING
- A very simple and economical way to save electricity consumption in air conditioning is to install awnings on the windows where the sun hits the most. In this way we manage to insulate better from heat and cold, achieving savings of up to 60% of electrical energy consumed.
- Homes with a centralized air conditioning installation are more efficient and consume less electricity.
- It is important to set a fixed temperature of 26ºC so as not to consume in excess and to have a pleasant temperature.
- A fan fixed to the ceiling helps to spread the temperature better, both in winter and in summer. So we will get less electrical consumption with less time of electrical power.
- Adjust the thermostat to the desired temperature, it is not necessary to put it at a lower temperature than you need.
COMPUTERS
There is a voluntary labelling system for all electronic office devices called EnergyStar, this system ensures and guarantees that electrical equipment is energy efficient. It applies worldwide and is voluntary.
- The black colour of the screen saver is the one that produces the least power consumption.
- The screen is the element that consumes the most electrical energy.
- Flat screens have the lowest power consumption.
TELEVISIONS
The screen that has more power consumption is the cathode ray tube but fortunately this tends to disappear, replaced by those of less consumption as are the LED and then the LCD.
- After the refrigerator, it is the electrical appliance that produces most consumption within the home and our electrical installation globally.
- Don’t leave your TV on standby.
- Connect all the electronic equipment associated with a multiple connection base and with a simple switch off you can save up to 40 euros a year!
LIGHTING
Not all areas of our home need the same lighting characteristics, so we will have to analyze them and detect what intensity they need and for how long.
- Painting the ceilings and walls in light colours will make better use of natural lighting and reduce artificial lighting and electricity consumption.
- Clean the lamps and screens and you will increase the luminosity considerably.
- Turn off the electrical lighting in areas where you are not.
